With a student loan through Cross Valley, you can borrow anywhere from $3,000 up to the certified cost of attendance. The college or university you’re attending will provide that certification.

It’s administered by the U.S. Department of Education, and aims to determine your eligibility for various types of financial aid, including grants, work-study programs, and federal student loans.

Yes. Student loans become part of your credit report, just like all other loans and credit cards. Your repayment of your student loan(s) will impact your credit score—positively or negatively—just like any other outstanding debt. If you’re like many, your student loan is your first big debt and the first opportunity to contribute to building a healthy credit score.

The timing of when you have to start repaying your student loans depends on the type of loan and certain other factors. But in general, loan payments are required after you finish school or drop below half-time status.

Typically, there is a six-month grace period before you start repaying your loans (yay!) which allows you time to secure a job and plan your budget to include your loan payments. Once the grace period is over, you’ll receive monthly payment notifications.
