The National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) is the federal agency that insures deposits in credit unions, similar to how the FDIC insures bank deposits. NCUA coverage provides up to $250,000 of insurance per account holder, per credit union.
But we at Cross Valley believe an additional layer of protection for our members’ funds is important.
Excess Share Insurance coverage kicks in after the NCUA limits have been reached, providing even greater security for members’ savings. In fact, your funds are insured up to $250,000 above NCUA limits on your savings accounts.
In essence, ESI acts as a “backup plan” for your accounts, giving members added peace of mind that your hard-earned money is safeguarded beyond the standard NCUA limits.
